Not Goodbye

(A poem I wrote when everyone starting to leave for college in August)

Roses are red

Violets are blue.

When you leave,

I don’t know what I’ll do.

We’ve grown so close,

You’re my best friend.

I just don’t want to feel

Like this is the end.

Remember me

when you go away.

Call me up

and say it’s okay.

You mean so much.

You can’t leave now!

I have to let go

But I don’t know how.

When you come back,

We’ll build a snowman!

Or if you prefer,

WE’ll do the can-can.

Okay this is it.

I guess I must try.

It’s time to go,

But this is not goodbye.

The Liebster Award 2016

Liebster Award 2016
Surprise Everyone!I have been nominated by Kindra M. Austin and Amytalksbooks for the 2016 Liebster Award!  This is totally amazing!Thank you so much! I appreciate both your blogs very much and am so happy the feeling is mutual!

The Liebster Award is designed to help new bloggers feel welcome. There are certain rules, and I’m going to go with the ones that my nominee chose. I’ve copied and pasted them below.

The rules are pretty simple to accept your nomination. Make a post about the award and in it you thank the person that nominated you, Answer their questions, Nominate 5 more people,  and ask them questions. Piece of cake!

These are the questions that Kindra asked me:
1.Please list five books, in no particular order that have influenced your perception of life.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, If I stay, The Notebook, The Last Song, and  To Kill a Mockingbird.
2.Who is your real-life hero, and why? This person does not necessarily have to be a writing hero.

I would probably say my recently deceased grandmother, Jeanne. She was just themost wonderful woman to be around. She always saw the bright side to everything in life and kept going even with all the rocks life threw her way.She always showed me love and taught me what true happiness and love is. I inspire to be a Elementary school teacher just like her someday.
3.Do you generally like, or dislike film adaptations of classic literature? For example, “The Great Gatsby.”

For the most part,I would say I dislike movie adaptations of books, especially when it comes to series. There are a few exceptions of course. Examples include Bridge to Teribithia, The Princess Bride, etc. (for the record I’m not a fan of The Great Gatsby movie, but I didn’t enjoy the novel much so that may have influence.)
4.If you were a fruit or vegetable, which would you be, and why?

I would like to say a strawberry because I feel they are unique and stand out amongst other fruits. They look funny, but underneath they are just the sweetest things. (if you ask my mom though, I’m a potato because I apparently live on the couch)
5.Do you like The Beatles, the greatest band of all time? Why or why not?

I do like The Beatles (however, I wouldn’t say they’re the greatest band of all time).I enjoy some of there music, but not all. I enjoy that their songs have lyrics that cover a wide variety of things, but there are just songs that don’t sound good to me)
6.What/who inspires your writing the most?

I guess my feeling inspire most of my work. I write bout a lot of different things, but I find that my feelings are the muse to just about everything.
7.Would you ever sign a contract with a publisher relinquishing your rights to your work? Why or why not?

I would consider it, if it wasn’t so darn expensive. I am open to giving more people access to my writing. For me it’s not about the money, but the joy I see from others when they read my work. That is rewarding enough.
8.When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Oh there’s a long list there. Pretty sure the most prominent was to be a rock star or a fashion designer.
9; What is your favorite flower?

Rose, just like my middle name. In general I like a lot of colorful flowers though.
10.If you were a season, which one would you be?

Spring
11. Introvert or extrovert?

Depends on who I’m around.

These are  the questions that I was asked by Amytalksbooks
1
If you could interview anyone, dead or alive…who would it be?

I’d probably choose Nicholas Sparks because he is my favorite author and I would love to know what inspires his writing.

2What is your favourite book?

This is hard. I have so many.  I really love the Notebook.

3What is your favourite way to spend a day?

SLEEPING! (I can never get enough). But I do enjoy spending the whole day skiing when I can.
4Where is your favourite place to read?

I think I do most of my reading in the guard room on my breaks. I enjoy it there because it’s an escape from the madness and the only quiet place around.
5Tea or coffee? Or neither?

Coffee. Always coffee. I hate tea.

6What is your biggest pet peeve?

People that chew with their mouths open gross me out. Also I hate people that change the subject to talk about themselves. Sometimes it’s okay, but if we’re talking about pizza and you change the subject mid sentence to talk about your day, get away from me.
7Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

In 5 years, I see myself having graduated from college. I will hopefully be looking forward to summer break after my first year if teaching. Maybe I’ll be engaged?!!?! ( I realize I have to have a boyfriend first for this to happen, but it’s possible.)
8What qualities mean the most to you in a person?

Trustworthiness, Honesty, a sense of humor, Optimistic, Bravery.
9What is your secret talent?

Well I don’t think it’s a secret that I can sing because I have won several awards for my voice, but my real top secret talent?  I can write poetry! I know it’s not a secret to you seeing as your reading this on my blog, but most of my real life friends have no idea I can do this. A secret to you is that my name isn’t actually Baffy.
10If you could drop everything right now, and go anywhere, where would it be?

well, normally my answer would be to go skiing out in Colorado (since it’s always been my dream to go skiing in the rockies) but t’s a little to warm for that right now. I’d have to say I would choose to go travel with one of my best friends since they all are leaving me here anyways. (Delaware, Mexico, Hawaii?!?!?! SOMEONE TAKE ME WITH YOU)

The bloggers I would like to nominate are:

Justanotherblogger821

LeannePoetry

Beat, Measure, Rhyme

Steve Pearson Poetry

My questions that I would love to hear your answers on:
1. What inspires you?

2. What is one dream you have/had that you would give anything to pursue?

3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

4. Where is your happy place?

5. Best book you’ve ever read?

6. Top 5 favorite songs of all time.

7.  What advice would you give to someone young and looking to pursue their dreams?

8. If you were a super hero, what would your name and power(s) be?

9. What do you enjoy doing besides writing?

10. what is your favorite food?(do you have something you at when trying to come up with something to write?)

Just Last Night

You were in my dream,

From not long ago.

It was just last night

under the stars’ glow.

When I closed my eyes

As I slept in bed,

Together we danced

All throughout my head.

When you look at me

And I only you,

The world then revolves

Around just us two.

Music is playing

But we do not hear.

I’m lost in your arms

When you are so near.

Everyone watches

As we do our dance,

But we don’t notice.

We’re stuck in a trance.

When the song is through,

We stand just in place.

You then close your eyes

and you kiss my face.

The crowd goes in awe

And my cheeks go pink.

I’m so confused now,

I can’t even think.

Before I process

What is happening,

I become aware

Of the sounds of spring.

The Rape

I am walking home from school

And I’m standing at a light.

While I wait for it to change,

I check behind my back.

I see you in the distance,

Fear conquers my inside.

I walk across so quickly,

move faster and faster.

I try  hard to distance us,

But you move so much faster.

I’m three fourths of the way home

And you are on my trail now.

You are stuck at a stoplight

I take off my shoes and run.

I cannot breathe but I run,

But you move so much faster.

I make it to my street now,

And see there is no one home.

The fear quickens my heart beat.

I realize there’s no escape.

With little time to waste now,

I open my garage door.

I hurry inside the house

Looking for a place to hide.

I know that I shut the door,

But you move so much faster.

You manage to get inside

And you find my hiding place.

There’s nowhere else to go now

And there’s nowhere left to hide.

There is only giving up

And to hope it is quick.

You drag me to my bedroom

And end up with you want.

With so few screams of protest,

And hands that are bound with tape,

There’s nothing left to do now

But let my warm tears roll down.

With your hand over my mouth,

And no will left to fight you,

You take advantage of me

Just to get what you wanted.

You threaten you will kill me

If I ever tell a soul.

I tried to sleep all that night

On the bed I was abused.

But I was not successful

And only blamed myself.

It took me over three years

Just to admit it happened.

But I still won’t say the name

For fear of what may happen.

Being hurt by those you know

And forced to live with the pain

Is a burden in which

I am very ashamed.

A Penny For My Thoughts #1

This morning I was scrolling through my Facebook feed when I came across a interesting tumbler feed. It asked ” what if the reason you get a song stuck in your head is because somewhere in the world, your soulmate is singing it?”

My instant reaction was to feel bad for my soulmate as I sing a lot. A LOT. If this were true, my poor soulmate would have songs had some pretty terrible songs that I’ve song in choir in their heads for several months( I sincerely apologize for the 3 month period we sang “Happy” junior year). But I also sing a lot for fun so there’d be no rest for the wicked.  So sorry.

Vice versa, if this is true, I must say that at least my soul mate has good taste in music because I usually have some pretty decent music running through my brain.

Just thought that this was interesting and thought provoking ( even if it isn’t physically possible.) Have a song stuck in your head? Comment what your soulmate may be singing at this very moment. I’m quite curious to see your responses. Mine apparently has Ignition by R. Kelly on replay because it’s been stuck in my head all day.

The Illness

The illness overwhelms my heart.

The illness has taken control.

The illness won’t let me sleep.

The illness waits for me to die.

The illness took my sanity.

The illness won’t let me have peace.

The illness loves to torture me.

The illness just won’t let me be.

The Walls of My Heart

The walls of my heart must crumble

Before they can be built again

Into something for the better

Than what in the past it has been.

The new walls of my heart will grow

From the rubble that’s left behind.

New walls that will tower above,

protecting a treasure to find.

The old walls of my heart are gone.

They are nothing but a memory.

The time has come to move forward

Into the light for all to see.

Donut Love Poem

* I wrote this little gem my freshman year of high school.  It has yet to fail at making me smile*

Dear beloved donut,

I love your circular cut.

Your circle is just so round.

My true love, I’ve found.

And your creamy frosting

Makes me feel like a king.

Last but not least: the topping to your dough

Are your tasty sprinkles of rainbow.

I could just eat you up.

Actually , I already have.
